Designed as a private holiday residence, this home draws inspiration from colonial architecture, reinterpreted with clean proportions and contemporary detailing. The residence sits within a generous 7,200 sq.ft site, allowing the built form to occupy only a small footprint while preserving expansive landscaped gardens, mature trees, and outdoor recreational spaces. The composition is defined by deep verandahs, slender columns, symmetrical façades, and a restrained white palette that gives the home a timeless character.
The planning separates guest accommodation from the owner's private retreat. The ground and first floors are dedicated to guests, comprising three bedrooms, a spacious living room, dining area, and kitchen designed to comfortably accommodate family gatherings and weekend stays. The second floor is reserved exclusively for the owners, featuring a private bedroom that opens onto a large terrace overlooking the gardens and swimming pool, creating a quiet retreat within the property.
The landscape plays an equally important role in the overall experience. A centrally positioned swimming pool, extensive lawns, stone walkways, and the retention of existing mature trees establish a resort-like setting while preserving the natural character of the site. Large openings, shaded balconies, and deep overhangs provide abundant natural light and cross ventilation, ensuring comfortable interiors suited to Chennai's coastal climate. The result is a holiday home that combines the elegance of colonial architecture with the openness, comfort, and functionality expected of a contemporary weekend retreat.
