Designed as the interiors of an independent bungalow within an apartment enclave, this residence celebrates the warmth and craftsmanship of traditional South Indian homes while embracing the comfort and functionality of contemporary living. Every material and detail was carefully selected to create a timeless home that reflects the client's appreciation for natural textures, handcrafted elements, and enduring design.
The material palette forms the identity of the project. Authentic Athangudi tiles bring colour and character to the floors, while rich teak wood finishes define the doors, ceilings, furniture, and architectural elements throughout the home. The interiors are layered with tactile finishes, including fabric veneers for the wardrobes, leaf impressions incorporated into the wall finishes, and dried leaves encapsulated within glazing panels, transforming everyday building components into crafted design features.
The project celebrates artisanal detailing at every scale. Traditional handcrafted door handles, intricately carved timber doors, custom wrought-iron balustrades, and decorative joinery reinforce the home's timeless character. Even the kitchen reflects this philosophy through bespoke tile inserts containing embedded natural dried seeds, creating a unique surface that becomes both functional and artistic.
Natural materials continue seamlessly into the outdoor spaces. A landscaped terrace garden serves as an extension of the living areas, featuring an exposed brick bar designed as an intimate space for family gatherings and entertaining.
